Hi, my name is Chuck Herring from Mr. Tire, home of On The Rim & Out The Door and BRAKES FOREVER. My Automotive Expert today is Gary Goldstein. Today were going to show you how to replace wiper blades. The manufacturer of wiper blades suggest we replace them every six months or 6,000 miles. The first thing we do is be sure we have a fender cover, a fender to protect the hoods so it does not get scratched. We will need wiper blades, you may need a screwdriver and maybe some strong hands to do this service. Lets get started. The first thing Gary is going to do is he is going to pull the whole wiper blade assembly as high as it can go so he can work on it. The next thing he is going to do is going to find where the clip is on the wiper blade and release it. Most of the time you just have to press it in with your thumb, and the whole thing are slide down towards the windshield. Once he has done that then he can pull the whole wiper blade off. The next thing he is going to do is take his new wiper blade and it goes on just like the old one came off. He slides it over top of the arm, clip, and just click it up in the assembly, and make sure it goes back on the windshield. One of the most important things about replacing wiper blades, you want to be sure you hear that click sound, because if the wiper blade is not when theyre solid, it can fly off when operating in a rainstorm or when youre just trying to clean your windshield. You do not want a wiper blade arm scratching your windshield. Once you have done one side, you want to do the other side. Wiper blades should be replaced in pairs. Dont forget, sometimes the vehicles have one on the back, especially the minivans and the SUVs. Thats how you replace a wiper blade.
